P-TECH Showcase scheduled for eighth-grade parents and students

The VISD Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) will host a P-TECH Showcase on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 5:45 p.m. at the Career and Technology Institute (CTI), located at 104 Profit Dr., for families and students to learn more about the pathways available and application process.

Victoria ISD art students recently participated in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's School Art Competition. Out of the many students who participated, approximately 60 artworks were chosen to represent VISD in Houston on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Out of those 60 pieces of art, nine advanced to the next level of competition and will be on display at the NRG Center in Houston for the duration of the Houston Rodeo from Monday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, March 20.

The Redistricting Advisory Committee has been hard at work reviewing the new proposed redistricting map. The new map will be presented to the VISD Board of Trustees at the Regular Monthly Board Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m.

School Matters: "Glow and Grow" in Victoria ISD

Victoria ISD is committed to making instructional decisions that support students in finding their “&”, and aligning professional growth initiatives to support our staff in “finding their genius”. Growth is the metric that is the equalizer for all, especially after a school year so greatly impacted by the pandemic. One of the many ways we are encouraging the growth of our instructional staff, which includes teachers, instructional coaches, assistant principals, principals and district instructional leadership, is the “Glow and Grow.”

On Tuesday, January 25th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Victoria East High School Band Hall, the VISD band directors are hosting an instrument tryout night where your 5th-grader can try out the different band instruments offered in 6th grade at any middle school.

This is a perfect opportunity for students to try something new and decide if they want to pursue band next year. We hope to see you there!

VISD introducing T-STEM pathway in fall 2022

Victoria ISD is excited to announce its brand-new T-STEM Engineering pathway beginning in fall 2022 at Victoria East High School.

In August 2021, Victoria ISD launched a new Let’s Talk chatbox feature on its website. The chatbox allows stakeholders an easy way to submit questions, comments, and other feedback to the district and receive a timely response. Since August, the district has received and responded to over 425 Let’s Talk messages.

Campus websites will now also have their own, individualized Let’s Talk chatbox.

Victoria East and West High School powerlifting teams competed at the Iron Tiger Powerlifting Meet 2022 at Goliad High School on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Congratulations Bailey!

Congratulations to Bailey Zappe!

Bailey recently received the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose award. First established in 2021, the annual award is given to an offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.

Bailey is a graduate of Victoria East HS.
